COERR Organized Elderly Day Activity

   COERR organized Elderly Day in the Temporary Shelters in April every year to raise awareness of the younger generations in recognizing the value of the elders who had preserved and shared their knowledge and wisdom through cultural activities for the community. The Elderly Day activity usually consisted of the younger pouring water on the elder’s hands and received blessing from the elder. Then there were performance or exercise performance and recreational activities by the elders as well as performance and singing by the youngers including the offering of gifts for the elders to thank for their role models as treasure of the community.

   COERR Mae Sarieng organized the Elderly Day Ceremony on April 12, 2021 at Ban Mae La Oon Temporary Shelter in Sob Moei District, Mae Hong Son Province in which 183 elders of 114 females and 69 males attended.

   COERR Mae Sot organized the “Elderly Day Ceremony” at Ban Nupo Temporary Shelter in Umpang District, Tak Province on April 9, 2021. There were 120 participants of 75 females and 45 males.

   At Ban Umpiem Temporary Shelter, the new normal elderly day ceremony was held on April 29, 2021. This year COERR provided needy supplies to the youngers to offer water pouring at the elderly’ houses to avoid gatherings in this pandemic time. There was also a group of 27 youths, consisting of 14 females and 13 males, volunteered to repair the ruin roof for the elderly’s houses.

   COERR Kanchanaburi organized the Elderly Day Ceremony at Ban Tham Hin Temporary Shelter in Suan Phueng District, Ratchaburi Province. There were 75 elders of 39 females and 36 males attending. At Ban Don Yang Temporary Shelter in Sangkhlaburi District of Kanchanaburi Province, the Elderly Day Ceremony was held on April 20, 2021 with 48 elderly participants of 34 females and 14 males.

   COERR Aranyaprathet continued to provide rice and dried food supplies for 60 vulnerable elders in the border villages of Sa Kaew Province on monthly basis. COERR also provided the monthly rice and dried food supplies for 40 needy elders in Surin Province in coordination with the Ubon Ratchathani Diocese.
